세계민속악기박물관은 보편적인 인류의 문화유산인 세계의 음악과 악기를 사용하여 상대방에 대한 존중과 배려를 통한 인류애를 나누는데 의미를 두고 있습니다. 급격히 변해버린 다문화적 국내외 환경에서 다른 문화에 대한 이해부족으로 야기되는 갈등을 해소하고, 지구촌의 다양한 음악과 예술을 통하여 자연스럽게 창의적 인성교육과 성숙한 세계시민으로서의 자질을 함양하는데 이 박물관의 설립취지가 있습니다.
The Mission of the Museum of Musical Instruments of the World(MMIW) lies on the love of mankind, derived from honor and consideration, with the use of world music and musical instruments that are cultural heritage of humanity. We minimize conflicts, caused by lack of understanding of other cultures on the base of international and domestic multicultural environments that has been radically changed. The purpose of the museum's establishment is in not only cultivating one's talent as a global citizen but also giving creative and humanistic education naturally through various music and arts around the world.
